2 Families Unite in New Home
Nestled on a quaint, little-known street in Highland Park, Illinois, this coastal-style home with its shingle and stone water-table exterior serves as the residence for two families coming together. The newly formed family, eager to host life’s activities and events, presented an extensive list of desires, including a sport court, pool, and individual spaces for the parents and their five children. Equally important was their intention to create a home that seamlessly integrates into the stately neighborhood’s unique fabric.
To ensure each child’s unique identity, the design includes personalized individual spaces, while communal areas encourage collaboration and play. The pool and sport court are the primary hubs of activity, complemented by a Family Workshop and Kitchen, perfect for meals and creative projects. Additional features like a home office, yoga studio, and exercise area meet the family’s diverse needs. The open and flowing layout supports both intimate gatherings and larger parties of friends and family.
Benefiting from a spacious multi-lot property, our design team maximized both indoor and outdoor spaces to create a cohesive, inviting environment. The result is a home that not only tells a story but also provides a rich, engaging experience for the family and their guests as they approach their beautiful new residence.
